Old Time Photos

Our local library is awesome. It happens to be right down the street, easily within walking distance, and the boys and I go there at least once a week for books and playtime.

They have 'new' toys there.

If you're a mom, you understand what that means to a kid--hours of playing with things that you wouldn't care less about if they were in your own toy room, but here, they are the coolest toys ever!

And, for me, it translates to having a good hour or so to peruse books in absolute peace and quiet, all while the boys are very content and well within eye/ear shot. It's great!

Our library also has reading programs all year long, and the kids have loved participating. We were able to enjoy most of the Summer reading program this year, and on one of the last days, there was an unexpected surprise--a photographer who specializes in 'old time photographs'--waiting to let the kids get all dressed up and take their pictures!

The clothes were hysterical--only about 14 sizes too big! We were able to fix some of that with rubber bands, clamps, and the like--and it didn't seem to bother the boys a bit!

*Note to self: Never again put a very over sized bowler hat
on a child with an already round face. It does not flatter.*

The boys had so much fun getting to be 'real' cowboys for a few moments, and I got great (and free!) pictures out of the deal. What more could you ask for from your library?

Looks like you had a lot of fun! My boys love dress-up just as much as my girls! Cute pics! Love the one of all three of them together!
